I don’t know if this has been covered before but (Jeff or Dave maybe) I have a handy hint to help you with those complex fonts.
I often like to cater to my mac visitors (using both Safari and Firefox) by offering Helvetica Neue Light or maybe Optima or maybe some complex Condensed Bold font. Unfortunately I often found that I could get Helvetica Neue Light to work in Firefox but not in Safari. Eventually, thanks to a hint I found somewhere, I found that 'Helvetica Neue Light' and HelveticaNeue-Light did the trick.
So I’ve solved the dilemma for one font. How do you determine the appropriate font name for Futura Condensed ExtraBold? Simple: Font Book.app
Open Font Book, navigate to the required font and then do a Command+I to view the font info.
The information is right there for you on the right. The PostScript name and the Full name are all that you need to make those complex font names work in both Safari and Firefox. If only Windows shipped with Helvetica Neue…
